Elsevier Announces the Launch of a New Journal: Molecular Astrophysics
AMSTERDAM, March 16, 2015 /PRNewswire/ --
Elsevier, a world-leading provider of scientific, technical and medical information products and services, today announced the launch of Molecular Astrophysics, a new journal focusing on the formation of molecules in space.
Molecular Astrophysics provides a new publishing platform for scientists studying chemical processes that form and deconstruct molecules, and control chemical abundances in the universe. Its interdisciplinary character provides researchers working on exoplanets, astrochemistry, astrobiology, spectroscopy, physical chemistry and chemical physics a central podium for information sharing.
Editor-in-Chief Professor Alexander Tielens, astronomer at Leiden Observatory in the Netherlands, will lead the team of Editors and Editorial Board members that have committed themselves to the journal.
"The launch of this journal is very timely, given the many exciting things going on in this area and major projects such as ALMA and the Rosetta mission generating its first, very promising results. There will be a lot more happening in this field in the coming years and the journal will provide a perfect platform for this," said Prof. Tielens.
"This interdisciplinary research area is growing at such a fast pace that we feel a dedicated journal with top Editors is in its place," added José Stoop, Publisher at Elsevier. "Molecular Astrophysics will play an important role in disseminating this research on a global scale and serving the communities involved in this field."
The journal will appear four times a year in both print and online and will be rolled out in Elsevier's brand new electronic submission and review system EVISE®. The journal will also follow the Article Based Publishing scheme, allowing papers to appear fully citable online shortly after acceptance.
