Elsevier Announces the Launch of Open Access Journal
AMSTERDAM, December 23, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --
Interdisciplinary Neurosurgery: Advanced Techniques and Case Management
Elsevier, a world-leading provider of scientific, technical and medical information, products and solutions announces the launch of open access journal, Interdisciplinary Neurosurgery: Advanced Techniques and Case Management.
Neurosurgery has recently seen a range of advances in imaging techniques and experimental research in the field of neurorestoration and neuroregeneration, offering new treatment options for neurosurgeons, such as stem cell treatment and implanting of biotechnical devices.
Interdisciplinary Neurosurgery will provide a new home for high quality manuscripts, of interest to clinical researchers in the field of neurosurgery and neurology, and clinicians of related disciplines who are involved in the treatment of central and peripheral nervous system diseases and the spine.
Editor-in-Chief of the journal, Petra Klinge, Associate Professor of Neurosurgery, The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University, said of the launch, "Neurosurgery is often tasked to manage the more difficult and rare cases. Interdisciplinary Neurosurgery is dedicated to publishing those complex neurosurgical cases, particularly when other specialties are involved in the diagnosis and management. Neuroimaging, robotics, biotechnics and basic neurosciences are offering new opportunities for the management of neurological diseases at an ever increasing speed. Not only does this broaden the spectrum of neurosurgical indications (e.g. in the field of neurorestoration) but also welcomes an increasingly innovative approach to inter- and transdisciplinary collaboration."
"We're delighted to announce the launch of this new journal. We look forward to offering surgeons, researchers and clinicians a platform on which they can publish cases that propose new and unconventional ideas, and introduce new diagnostic tools while promoting cutting-edge neurosurgery," said Peter Bakker, Publisher Neurology at Elsevier. "Authors and readers alike will benefit from the various features that Interdisciplinary Neurosurgery has to offer. As an open access, online only, article based publishing journal, research will be available to all researchers anytime and from any location on ScienceDirect"
The article based publishing model allows for immediate publication of the final version of a paper without waiting for other articles to be compiled into a full issue. This, amongst other Elsevier content innovation initiatives, will ensure that Interdisciplinary Neurosurgery delivers accessible and current content with reduced publication delays.
The first published articles will become available for access online on ScienceDirect in the first quarter of 2014.
