Elsevier Announces the Launch of Open Access Journal: Preventive Medicine Reports
AMSTERDAM, September 24, 2014 /PRNewswire/ --
First published papers now available online on ScienceDirect
Elsevier, world-leading provider of scientific, technical and medical information products and services, is pleased to announce the launch of a new peer reviewed open access journal, Preventive Medicine Reports (PMR).
Preventive Medicine Reports will serve as the sister journal to Preventive Medicine, a leading medical journal founded by Dr. Ernst Wynder in 1972. Continuing the legacy of Preventive Medicine, PMR publishes original, scholarly manuscripts on the science and practice of disease prevention, health promotion, and public health policymaking. It seeks to broaden understanding and perspective on these topics by including a wider selection of geographic and population specific studies.
Preventive Medicine Reports is an international, online-only, open access journal soliciting papers, especially individual or meeting reports and other papers that have a subspecialty angle or a methodological focus, which are technically and scientifically sound. Submissions that have been considered for Preventive Medicine may also be considered for publication in Preventive Medicine Reports. Reviews may be transferred at the author's request. The journal's mission is to provide access to regional or international research, health data, and policy that may not otherwise be accessible in traditional public health or medical journals.
The Co-Editor of the journal, Dr. Eduardo Franco, Professor at McGill University's Faculty of Medicine, Canada said of the launch, "We are pleased to work with Elsevier to publish Preventive Medicine Reports. It will fill a niche in the global public health literature by providing a scholarly home for peer-reviewed articles on specialized topics, regional or population-specific studies, and methodological aspects of preventive medicine."
"We are delighted to announce the launch of Preventive Medicine Reports and offer this new option for open access publishing to scientists in the field of prevention research. We look forward to working closely with Professors Franco and Rosberger and the greater editorial team in further developing this new journal," Kaia Motter, Publisher at Elsevier.
