Elsevier Launches Annual Knovel Academic Challenge for Engineering Students Across the Globe
NEW YORK, September 30, 2015 /PRNewswire/ --
Elsevier, a world-leading provider of scientific, technical and medical information products and services, has launched the10th Knovel Academic Challenge; engineering students from across the globe can now sign up to register and compete for weekly prizes. The annual global five-week game gives engineering professors, instructors and librarians the chance to integrate real-life engineering and science practices into their STEM communities while immersing students in a professional problem-solving environment - inside or outside the classroom.
The game is freely accessible for students to play and faculty to see who from their community is participating. Throughout the challenge, Knovel's engineering decision-support solutions and tools are accessible for all those taking part in the challenge. Based on participant performance and involvement, weekly prizes will be granted to the winning students and institutions.
The prizes for this year's Knovel Academic Challenge include:
- The student with the highest accumulation of points at the end of the Knovel Academic Challenge will receive a new Apple iPad Air II with Wi-Fi 16Gb
- The student with the second highest accumulation of points at the end of the challenge will receive a SONOS Play:1 speaker
- The student with the highest points scored each week will receive a $100 Amazon gift card
- At the end of the Challenge, the leading scorer from each of the top 10 scoring schools will receive a $25 Amazon gift card
"As an engineering student, I often come across situations where I need more than a simple definition of technical terms," said Hafiz Umar Shafique, a student at the University of Alberta. "Containing exhaustive databases of physical, chemical and material properties and interactive graphs, interactive equation solving, and most importantly, a wide collection of books and publications to search from, Knovel proves to be more than just a search engine for engineers. The Knovel Academic Challenge is a fun way to understand and apply the wide applications of Knovel tools to our everyday engineering problems."
Engineering and science students from academic institutions across the globe who wish to participate in this year's challenge, can sign up at: http://knovelac.com/
