PHILADELPHIA, January 13, 2016 /PRNewswire/ --
Subscribers can earn 60 AMA Category 1 continuing medical education credits a year
Elsevier, a world-leading provider of scientific, technical and medical information products and services, today announced the launch of Physician Assistant Clinics, offering in-depth clinical review articles written by physician assistants (PAs) for PAs.
Physician Assistant Clinics is the newest addition to the Elsevier Clinics Review Articles family. It continues the tradition of providing insights from today's most preeminent clinical thought leaders in the field.
"Physician Assistant Clinics provides the practicing PA with an in-depth look at clinical topics, including general medicine and sub-specialties, and allows educators and researchers to continuously and comprehensively keep pace with advancements in PA practice," said Adrianne Brigido, Elsevier Publisher, Continuity.
In addition to providing PA-relevant content, PAs can earn 60 AMA Category 1 Continuing Medical Education (CME) credits per year. Physician Assistant Clinics subscribers simply activate their CME account on http://www.theclinics.com, and take a test based on the information covered in each quarterly issue to earn up to 15 credits per issue.
Each issue of Physician Assistant Clinics will cover specific topic of interest to PAs, including allergy, asthma and immunology; dermatology; emergency medicine; endocrinology; geriatrics; hematology/oncology; internal medicine; men's health; pediatrics and adolescent medicine; and women's health, among others.
PAs are nationally certified and state licensed to practice medicine and prescribe medication in every medical and surgical specialty and setting. While their numbers are projected to grow 39 percent within the next decade, making them the second fastest-growing health profession in the U.S., there is a lack of PA-relevant clinical content available for them to stay abreast of the latest clinical findings, as well as resources that provide CME credit.
"Physician Assistant Clinics will fill this gap in information and resources," said Brigido.
The Consulting Editor for Physician Assistant Clinics is James Van Rhee, MS, PA-C, Director, Physician Associate Program, Department of Internal Medicine, Yale School of Medicine.
