Elsevier Welcomes Dr. Tommaso Falcone as New Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Minimally Invasive Gynecology
PHILADELPHIA, May 22, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --
Elsevier, a world-leading provider of scientific, technical and medical information products and services, welcomes Dr. Tommaso Falcone, MD, of the Cleveland Clinic Foundation as the new Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Minimally Invasive Gynecology (JMIG), official journal of the AAGL, Advancing Minimally Invasive Gynecology Worldwide.
The journal has been a prestigious forum in the field of minimally invasive surgery for over 20 years. In his new role Dr. Falcone aims to strengthen the journal's foundation built by previous Editor-in-Chief Dr. Stephen Corson, and further develop JMIG as the leader in delivering premier surgical information by new technologies.
"It is a great honor for me to assume the role of Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Minimally Invasive Gynecology," said Dr. Falcone. "The journal has an ever expanding role in highlighting research and clinical outcomes associated with minimally invasive techniques. In the modern era of increased scrutiny of the practice of medicine, an evidence-based approach to gynecologic surgery is necessary. JMIG should be the journal that attracts the landmark papers that can influence how clinicians practice."
"The AAGL has appointed a forward thinking Editor-in-Chief in Dr. Falcone, and I look forward to working with him to continue and expand upon the good work of Dr. Corson," added Andrea Boccelli, Publisher at Elsevier. "Elsevier is confident that under his leadership JMIG will be a continuing and growing success that will benefit authors, readers, the AAGL, and ultimately the women whose lives will be improved from the important research published in the journal."
