Elsevier's SciVal Strata Selected to Assess Russia's Research Performance
MOSCOW, November 4, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --
Elsevier, a world-leading provider of scientific, technical and medical information products and services, today announced it has reached an agreement with Russia's Ministry of Education and Science to provide access to SciVal Strata for the assessment of Russia's Research Performance. Access to SciVal Strata, a performance benchmarking tool within Elsevier's SciVal suite of research management solutions, builds on the Russian Government's previously granted access to Elsevier's SciVal Spotlight and Scopus.
In early 2013 the Russian Government launched a national research assessment program with the aim of identifying key areas for future investments in its research and development sector. With access to SciVal Strata, the experts at Russia's Federal Research and Consulting Center of Expertise, who are involved in the national research assessment, will be able to analyze the productivity of Russian scientists and research groups. These assessments will help the Ministry to effectively support the most fruitful researchers and research groups and stimulate new collaborations.
Mr. Ivan Sterligov, Director of The Center of Situational Analysis of the Federal Research and Consulting Center of Expertise, said, "We plan to use SciVal Strata to compare research productivity of individual Russian researchers and research teams, not only on a national level, but also on a cross-border collaboration level. We plan to use the results of the analyses to replenish the pool of scientific experts for the Ministry of Education, to support the Ministry's grant decision-making process."
Igor Osipov, PhD, Elsevier Regional Director for Russia and Belarus, said, "This national research assessment program proves the high-level priority the Russian Government gives to investments in its research and development sector and its aim for alignment with research trends on a global scale. We are honored that SciVal Strata has been selected as a tool to help the government strategically analyze its research productivity."
