Energy Solutions 2012 Champions a Renewable Energy Revolution
LONDON, September 6, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --
The UK's leading energy management event, Energy Solutions (http://www.energysolutionsexpo.co.uk) today revealed more details and key themes for its free-to-attend CPD accredited educational programme. Running from the 10-11 October 2012 at London's Olympia alongside the Energy Solutions 2012 Exhibition, the education programme will seek to promote a more renewable energy future.
The Green Alliance, a UK influential think tank, last week launched Green Economy: a UK Success Story that highlighted the pivotal role the green economy is playing within the UK. The report stated that the sector will grow by 40% from the year 2007 to 2014 with 788,700 people now employed in low carbon and environmental jobs in the UK, which is more than those employed in the motor trade and telecommunications industries.
With this in mind and the critical role that green technologies will play in the future prosperity of the country, Energy Solutions 2012 will take a closer look at what is being done now and the steps that need to be taken to bring about a renewable energy revolution.
Charles Perry, Co-founder and Partner of leading sustainability advisory firm, SecondNature, will address The Energy Academy on the first day to offer his vision for a sustainable energy future. He will provide a reminder of our past energy journey, the implications of burning over a million years' worth of fossilized matter each year today and the urgent need for a clean energy revolution. Charles has a long track record in sustainability and climate change working to transform organisations. He was formerly Managing Director of Good Energy and Director of BP Green Energy and an Associate of Forum for the Future and of Al Gore's The Climate Project.
"Humanity has become addicted to burning finite, polluting fossil fuels - we urgently need to switch to infinite, clean energy freely provided each day by the sun, wind, waves and tides," stressed Charles Perry.
The Renewables Theatre across the two days will host numerous sessions and speakers all providing valuable insight and lively debates around the need for an energy revolution. Sessions across the two days will look at the supply of renewable energy and the technological advancement that will assist in achieving a renewable energy revolution. A key session including all speakers is The Big Discussion that will debate the business case for renewables. Cost savings from deploying renewable technologies that offer the best solutions, how companies and institutes can de-risk their renewable strategy and the right time to invest in onsite renewables, along with other key questions, will be discussed by a host of industry leading figures.
David Hunt, Vice Chair for Onsite Renewables Sector Group at the Renewable Energy Association (REA), will present Time for A Renewable Energy Revolution in which he will look at the renewable energy supply in the UK and how to meet the 2020 renewable energy targets as well as looking at sourcing diverse and resilient energy supplies.
Another highlight includes a keynote speech from Lord Sebastian Coe KBE, fresh from his pivotal role in the biggest sporting event of the year. He will present to the audience at Energy Solutions 2012 the challenges he has faced throughout his career and discuss how he motivates change in mindset and behaviour to achieve project goals.
The CPD accredited education programme has the full support of all the major energy associations and industry groups including BRE, the Carbon Trust and the Energy Institute. With many employers now valuing 'learning agility' as a core competency, the CPD accredited programme at Energy Solutions provides professionals working within the energy sector with over 20 hours of tailored sessions, helping them build valuable industry knowledge.
