From 17 to 18 January, the Kazakh delegation, headed by the Minister of Environment and Water Resources, Mr. Nurlan Kapparov, attended the 2014 International Renewable Energy Agency's Assembly (IRENA). Our country became an officiating member of this organization in 2013.
From 20 to 22 January the Abu Dhabi International Exhibition Centre hosts the 2014 World Future Energy Summit (WFES). The summit is expected to be attended by over 26.000 people, including 650 companies from 40 countries and more than 20 national pavilions.
Representatives from the Astana EXPO-2017 National Company and the Ministry of Environment and Water Resources will take part in panel sessions during the event.
Astana EXPO-2017 will present itself with a 225 m2 informational stand at the World Future Energy Summit (WFES) exhibition. It is Kazakhstan's first time as an exhibitor at WFES. The exhibit will educate visitors about EXPO-2017, including the theme, sub-themes and the EXPO site, as well as information on Astana and Kazakhstan.
It's almost the 7th Abu-Dhabi Sustainability week in the UAE capital. It's the main annual global event dedicated to promoting the development of renewable energy, energy efficiency, water resources sector and waste. For our country, WFES is a very meaningful platform for open and constructive dialogue, especially concerning alternative energy development, which in turn yields us an opportunity to invite future exhibitors to EXPO-2017.
The theme of Astana EXPO-2017, 'Future Energy', is closely linked to the topics addressed at WFES. Kazakhstan already has plans in 2017 to become an ambitious global platform for constructive discussions in which countries, companies and organizations present their views and offer solutions to the major challenges and concerns of modern energy.
A Kazakh delegation will also visit Masdar City to meet with the EXPO Dubai-2020 coordinating committee.
