EXPO 2017: Saving the Planet Should Be the Mission of Future Generations
ASTANA, Kazakhstan, September 11, 2017 /PRNewswire/ --
International experts in the sphere of energy, ecology, and sustainable development created a vision of the planet's future at the international specialized exhibition EXPO 2017.
The Manifesto of Values and Principles draft, setting out recommendations on the sustainable development of the planet, was presented at the concluding conference of the Future Energy Forum.
"The mission to save planet Earth should become the new objective that will capture the minds of the younger generations. Educational programs at all levels, including universities, are aimed at making this mission popular among young people," the document says.
The experts also noted that in 2016, over 1 billion people still had limited access to energy (or no access at all).
It was suggested that a Global Future Energy Institute should be established in Astana as the long-term legacy of the EXPO 2017 exhibition. This institute would be able to act as a source of information and knowledge connected with the implementation of the recommendations of the present Manifesto.
The experts also suggested creating a Green Fund for a Sustainable Future, the main objective of which would be providing support to Central Asian countries in order to mitigate the consequences of climate change.
