The Magic Lab is Sony's dynamic R&D department that works on finding and prototyping new technologies which will impact people's gaming experience. The Lab has already given birth to the PlayStation Move Motion Controller, the EyeToy camera and most recently the DualShock 4 Controller. The EyeToy creator Richard Marks revealed that the Lab is currently looking into the eye control technology using SMI's RED-oem eye tracker that could allow players to use eye movements to steer a game's camera, employ eye gaze as an aiming or selection mechanism, and also let the gamers have more intelligence as they'll know what the other players are looking at.

SMI's flexible RED-oem platform and powerful Software Development Kit (SDK) allows enterprise customers to easily integrate remote eye tracking into their own applications and products. The RED-oem eye tracker provides accurate gaze, pupil and position information and guarantees large freedom of head movement for the game players.
Christian Villwock, Director of SMI´s OEM Solutions Business: "We believe that gaze interaction creates an amazing new experience for gaming and we're excited to work with global players like Sony to make our Eye Tracking Technology ready for the gaming market."
