Fenjiu Group's sealing ceremony for this year's production of traditional Chinese spirits receives international attention
FENYANG, China, Sept. 28, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Fenjiu Group held the annual sealing ceremony in Fenyang, Shanxi province on September 28th. Thousands of onlookers gathered to witness the sealing of this year's production batch of freshly-brewed first pot of puree fenjiu, a high-quality baijiu or traditional Chinese alcoholic product of Fenjiu Group.
As part of the opening of the 2017 Shanxi World Wine Culture Expo, the sealing ceremony was the top highlight of this multinational exchange event.
The first batch of 100 jars of 2017 limited-edition first pot of puree fenjiu were placed in a special display area called the 100-wine wall where they became available for purchase. Every jar of the liquor was etched with its own unique phrase or saying in Chinese, which had been carefully selected by the naming jury from among the many suggestions which had been sent in online by tens of thousands of connoisseurs of fenjiu. Each sentence imparted a saying or a statement of deep meaning. The entire batch of limited-edition wine was quickly snapped up after the event.
The bidding event is the most exciting part of the ceremony.
A 10-liter jar of the first pot of puree fenjiu originally brewed in 1987 was bought by famous Chinese entrepreneur Jin Zhiguo, chairman of China-based hypermarket chain operator New Huadu Supercenter Co., Ltd., at the record price of 3.20 million yuan.
A jar of the 30-year-old vintage brew is, due to the lengthy aging process, extremely high in quality and scarcity. Each jar from the batch, along its side, bears the joint signature of 110-year old Chinese master blender Qin Hanzhang, Fenjiu Group chairman Li Qiuxi and general manager Tan Zhongbao. As a result, the brew is regarded as the one and only one jointly authenticated by several of the industry's leading authorities.
The inaugural World Wine Culture Expo, the majority of the sessions of which were held on the premises of Fenjiu Group, was attended by nearly every one of China's name brand baijiu and traditional spirits producers. With Fenjiu Group and most baijiu makers across China having expressed enthusiasm for international development, the event is expected to mark the beginning of the Chinese baijiu establishing a presence and gaining a foothold in international markets.
