Fi South America Expands and Includes New High-Growth Sectors
AMSTERDAM, September 14, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --
Brazil has jumped from eighth to fifth place globally in food retail value, ahead of countries like France and Italy. With a dynamic and very competitive food industry, Brazil supplies raw materials and ingredients with international quality at affordable prices to a fast-growing food industry; according to a recent Euromonitor report.
To enable the global food and beverage suppliers to access this high-growth market, leading event organiser UBM Live today announced that the 17th edition of Fi South America is expected to break all records. After growth of 120% from 2008 to 2010, in 2012 over 50% more square meters have been booked. Additionally, UBM Live has confirmed that Fi South America has by far exceeded the forecast exhibitor and visitor bookings. Held on 18 ‒ 20 September 2012 at the Expo Center Norte, São Paulo, Brazil and co-located with a Nutraceutical Expo, Fi South America is now set to be the biggest event in the region dedicated to food ingredients, nutraceutical ingredients and functional foods.
It will unite over 400 domestic and international brands, including the world's leading suppliers of raw materials for the food industry. Exhibitors will offer innovations in products, processes, services and launch upcoming trends to more than 10,000 professionals from all over the world.
New exhibition zone focuses on the high-growth nutraceutical sector
In Brazil there is an increasing interest and high demand for value-added nutraceutical solutions and functional foods that provide immediate remedies for a wide range of modern concerns including weight-loss management, digestive transit, healthy aging or cardiovascular health. Sales in the Brazilian market now exceed US$4.5 billion, making it one of the biggest markets in South America.
Alongside the exhibition, the event counts a high-level conference organized by UBM Conferences. "We identified that the industry needs more information from reliable sources and that there is a strong pressure for innovation and new revenue streams, so there is a need for continuous contact with the market to exchange ideas and stay in the loop of new food trends. Our conference at Fi South America will help address these needs," said Matthias Baur, Portfolio Director, International Food Ingredients.
In addition, the Fi Excellence Awards 2012 - "Biodiversity Awards" - will bring recognition to food companies that encourage conservation of biodiversity, promotion of sustainable practices, as well as fair and equitable socio-economic development of the players involved along the entire supply chain.
