Over 140 of Britain's leading businesses, business leaders and social enterprises have today been revealed as finalists for the 2015 National Business Awards, including 9 companies shortlisted for the Corporate Citizenship Award.
The finalists for this award are:
Acorn Environment Services
Barclays
Bullhorn International
iomart Group plc
Laurel Leaf Support Ltd
Lloyds Banking Group
Premiership Rugby
The Job Show™
Unilever UK
The Corporate Citizenship Award celebrates the organisations bringing their corporate values to life through a range of social impact initiatives. Highlighting the role of the private sector in addressing social challenges, and improving the communities in which they operate, the Corporate Citizenship Award recognises those achieving social impact through partnership, investment, pro-bono work, or employee led initiatives.
John Wilkinson, CEO at shortlisted company Acorn Environment Services, has said: "We are extremely proud to be shortlisted for the Corporate Citizenship Award. Acorn do not receive funding from any quarter for our Young Persons Development Model and the oxygen of publicity that this may create will not only help our small business grow, but also enable us to help more young people into the workplace."
Finalists were chosen from the hundreds of businesses that entered or were nominated across 18 award categories. They will now prepare for live presentations to expert juries who will decide the overall winners that will be revealed at the awards ceremony on 10 November.
Phil Worms, Chief Marketing Officer & Head of Corporate Communications for shortlisted company iomart, has said: "It is a great honour to be nominated for the National Business Awards. As part of the tech community we are aware of the skills shortage in our sector and the need to encourage more young people into our industry. We are very proud that our efforts to do that are being recognised."
This year's finalists represent award categories such as The Grichan Partnerships Sustainable Business Award, The Lloyds Bank New Business of the Year Award and the Inflexion International Growth Business of the Year Award.
An all encompassing range of industries are represented in the shortlists for this year's awards, with companies from recruitment and children's clothing, to pet food and online marketing being selected for the chance to win a coveted National Business Award. The scale of the finalists is just as varied, with companies turning over less than a million pounds to over £25 million, employing 20 people or over 70,000 people.
Tom Broughton, Programme Director of the National Business Awards said: "The potential for businesses to have a positive impact on their local community is ever present. This award looks to recognise and reward the company which has made genuine effort towards creating that impact."
