Four Elsevier Products Named SIIA Content CODiE Awards Finalists
PHILADELPHIA, April 14, 2015 /PRNewswire/ --
Elsevier's Pathway Studio, Reaxys and two Reference Modules earn prestigious content industry recognition
Four products from Elsevier, a world-leading provider of scientific, technical and medical information products and services, have been named finalists for the 2015 SIIA CODiE Awards in multiple categories. Finalists represent the information industry's best products, technologies, and services created by or for media, publishers, and information services providers.
The Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA), the principal trade association for the software and digital content industries, announced Elsevier's Reaxys, Pathway Studio, Reference Module in Chemistry, Molecular Sciences and Chemical Engineering, and Reference Module in Earth Systems and Environmental Sciences as among the 92 CODiE Award content finalists across 25 categories.
In the Best Science and Technology Information Solution category, Elsevier's Pathway Studio is a finalist. Pathway Studio provides researchers with the most comprehensive collection of data about biological processes and molecular interactions mined from the scientific literature.
Elsevier's Reaxys is a finalist in the Best Solution for Integrating Content into the Workflow. Reaxys enables the full range of chemistry research and education. The Reaxys research solutions provide data and insights on organic, inorganic and organometallic chemistry, medicinal chemistry and bioactivity.
"Part of Elsevier R&D Solutions, Reaxys and Pathway Studio are two products in our portfolio that provide critical insights and data valued by researchers - including those in Drug Discovery & Development who want to reduce the time to market for new drugs," said Alexander Van Boetzelaer, Managing Director, Corporate Research & Development, Elsevier. "We are pleased to be recognized among the companies that continue to transform the industry with innovative products."
The two Elsevier Reference Modules are finalists in the Best Scholarly Publishing Information Solution and Best General Reference Service categories. Reference Modules combine thousands of related reference work articles into one online source of trustworthy information that is continuously updated by experts in the field.
"Reference Modules deliver on Elsevier's commitment to provide innovations that address the needs of researchers and content that drives better research outcomes," said Suzanne BeDell, Managing Director of Science and Technology Books, Elsevier. "Researchers can start exploring scientific topics with authoritative, current content and quickly discover relevant information in related fields with Reference Modules, and we're proud they have been recognized as finalists."
The SIIA CODiE Awards are the industry's only peer-reviewed awards program. The first round review of all nominees is conducted by media, publishing, and information services executives with considerable industry expertise, including members of the industry, analysts, media and bloggers, and bankers and investors. The judges are responsible for selecting the CODiE Awards finalists. SIIA members then vote on the finalist products and the scores from both rounds are tabulated to select the winners.
"The CODiE Awards competition was extremely competitive this year and our finalists set the standard for innovation and quality in the media, publishing and information service markets," said Mike Marchesano, Managing Director of ABM and the SIIA Content & Information Services Division (CISD). "Each and every finalist should be commended for its innovation and market-leading products and services. I look forward to seeing them all at the ABM & Information Industry Summit in June."

About the SIIA CODiE™ Awards
The SIIA CODiE™ Awards, originally called the Excellence in Software Awards, were established in 1986 by the Software Publishers Association (SPA), now the Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA), so that pioneers of the then-nascent software industry could evaluate and honor each other's work. Since then, the CODiE Awards program has carried out the same purpose - to showcase the software and information industry's finest products and services and to honor excellence in corporate achievement.
