Fujifilm Launches ELUXEO™ – the Next Generation of Endoscopy Systems Featuring a Unique 4-LED Multi Light™ Technology
DUSSELDORF, Germany and VIENNA, October 19, 2016 /PRNewswire/ --
Image-enhanced endoscopy
At UEG Week 2016 in Vienna, Fujifilm Europe, a pioneer in diagnostic imaging, officially presented its new ELUXEO™ endoscopy system for the first time. Its centrepiece is Fujifilm's innovative 4-LED Multi Light™ technology. The system allows endoscopists to use state-of-the-art image-enhanced endoscopy providing superior visualisation and differentiation of mucosal surfaces and vessel structures within the gastrointestinal (GI) tract. Exact characterisation and efficiency in daily clinical routine are also ensured by the optimised Multi Zoom function and the newly designed G7 grip. Leading experts discussed the system's benefits and early clinical experiences during Fujifilm's satellite symposium "Image-enhanced endoscopy with BLI and LCI - Increased accuracy in sight?".
The ELUXEO™ endoscopic system powered by Fujifilm's unique 4-LED Multi Light™ technology sets a new standard in light intensity and endoscopic imaging. By combining different wavelengths and the specific application of intensified light spectra created by the integrated light source, this technology allows healthcare professionals to easily switch between the three imaging modes White Light, Blue Light Imaging (BLI) and Linked Colour Imaging (LCI), thus meeting highest standards in brightness and contrast. "During the procedure, the BLI mode is particularly beneficial for making an immediate treatment decision", says Prof. Alessandro Repici, Director of the Endoscopy Unit at the Humanitas Research Hospital in Milan/Italy, one of the first users of the system in clinical practice. "It facilitates the identification of lesions, inflammations and early stages of colorectal cancers, makes diagnosis easier and more precise and thus contributes to improve patient outcomes."
Exact diagnosis and tailored treatment solutions are further supported by the 135x Multi Zoom representing current state-of-the-art technology. "In clinical practice we deal with a variety of mucosal patterns and tissue layers", states Prof. Helmut Neumann, Director of the Interventional Endoscopy Center at the University Hospital in Mainz/Germany. "Apart from the optical benefits of the system, the new endoscope enables efficient and comfortable navigation through the GI tract." A smaller bending radius and Flexibility Adjuster for easier insertion further optimise handling for the physician and are also designed to increase patient comfort.
"The BLI-equipped ELUXEO™ system and its outstanding 4-LED Multi Light™ technology was developed in cooperation with healthcare experts to achieve optimal results when choosing imaging modes such as BLI", says Nadja Scheuringer, Marketing Manager Endoscopy Systems Division at Fujifilm Corporation. "The new endoscopy series was built on Fujifilm's heritage and long-standing expertise in medical imaging and underlines our commitment of being a trusted partner for healthcare professionals in hospitals, clinics and private practices."
ELUXEO™ is currently being introduced into key European markets. During UEG Week Fujifilm also announced its upcoming pan-European workshops and courses taking place in designated reference centres. The educational programme was carefully developed to guarantee the highest level of training by implementing new technologies and taking into account recent developments in advanced endoscopy to continuously improve patient care.
In addition, a new training module on the application of BLI Imaging for Barrett's oesophagus (BO) will be available at Fujifilm's new scientific platform for healthcare professionals at http://www.bli.eu. The unique interactive training tool enables endoscopists to see how well they detect and delineate early neoplasia, how they perform compared to other experts and how technologies like BLI may improve their clinical practice. The module was developed by Prof. Jacques Bergman from the Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the Academic Medical Center in Amsterdam/Netherlands.
