'Global Armoured Vehicle Upgrades & Retrofit Worth $4.97bn in 2013' Says Visiongain
LONDON, March 4, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --
The global market for upgrades and retrofits to armoured vehicles will be worth $4.97bn in 2013, research published by industry analysts visiongain reveals today. Annual spending on systems retrofitted to armoured vehicles are expected to rise by 17.7% on their 2012 levels.
The main source of this large increase is identified in the visiongain report, entitled Global Armoured Vehicle Upgrade & Retrofit Market 2013-2023, which is in contracts to improve vehicles soon to come to the end of their service in Afghanistan. Despite looming cuts in defence expenditure, the US is calculated to have committed to programmes worth over 45% of the global armoured vehicle upgrade market in 2013 alone. As well as being concentrated in the USA, Visiongain has determined that the market is highly consolidated.
The report also provides a detailed breakdown of the sources of growth and areas of contraction in the armoured vehicle upgrade and retrofit market, including detailed ten-year budget forecasts for the 20 largest national countries. Market share has also been calculated for the top 20 companies worldwide, and is presented alongside details of contract awards from 2010 onwards/
The report's findings are reinforced by 4 exclusive interviews conducted with representatives of RPG Protection System Manufacturer AmSafe, Vehicle Optronics specialist Cassidian Optronics, armour supplier to the US MRAP upgrade programme Plasan and also Navistar Defense.
An analyst from visiongain's defence section detailed the findings of the report :
"With large cutbacks in spending continuing to affect the defence industry across Europe and America and the withdrawal of the US and its allies from Afghanistan, the expectation of contractions in the market for upgrades to armoured vehicles is unavoidable. However, due partly to the economical nature of many upgrades, as well as the planning of vehicle reset programmes, negative growth is not expected to be witnessed for several years. In fact, the USA is predicted to witness growth in the vehicle upgrade market in 2013."
The report has 185 pages and contains 196 tables, charts and graphs to explain trends and market projections within the armoured vehicle upgrade & retrofit market. As well as a global outlook, visiongain provides forecasts and analysis for 20 leading national markets (plus the 'Rest of the World' market) and 6 global submarkets for the period 2013-2023. The report also provides profiles of 20 leading companies operating in the armoured vehicle upgrade market worldwide.
The Global Armoured Vehicle Upgrade & Retrofit Market 2013-2023 is an invaluable reference for current and future investors in armoured vehicle protection and subsystems, as well as to companies and researchers who need to quickly understand the direction of both market and policy.
