GSMA's Global Mobile Awards to Recognise Mobile Innovation for Education or Learning

The GSMA has launched its prestigious 17th Annual Global Mobile Awards, which recognise excellence, achievement and innovation within the mobile communications industry, and will culminate in a presentation at the GSMA Mobile World Congress in Barcelona on Tuesday 28th February, 2012.
New categories have been introduced to reflect developments and innovation across the entire mobile ecosystem, including applications, services, devices and technology, with a specific focus for the first time on mobile innovation in the education and learning space.
"Devices embedded with mobile technology are being used to great effect in the education sector and are becoming increasingly commonplace," said Michael O'Hara, Chief Marketing Officer, GSMA. Eligible entrants in this new category include mLearning/education equipment, notebook, handheld and specialist learning device manufacturers, mLearning/education solution content providers, academic and training institutions, mobile network operators, NGOs, application and software developers, and chipset and module manufacturers.
