GSMA's Global Mobile Awards to Recognise Social and Economic Development in the Green Sector
LONDON, September 28, 2011 /PRNewswire/ --
The GSMA has launched its prestigious 17th Annual Global Mobile Awards, which recognise excellence, achievement and innovation within the mobile communications industry, and will culminate in a presentation at the GSMA Mobile World Congress in Barcelona on Tuesday 28th February, 2012.
New categories have been introduced to reflect developments and innovation across the entire mobile ecosystem, including applications, services, devices and technology, with a specific focus on social and economic development in the 'Green' sector.
"The 'Green Mobile Award' highlights the importance of the role of mobile on the environment through services, initiatives, policies and products that impact or improve areas such as energy efficiency, alternative energy sources, recycling, conservation, travel, manufacturing and logistics cost reduction, and eco-friendly consumption," said Michael O'Hara, Chief Marketing Officer, GSMA.
Eligible entrants in this category include organisations that serve the mobile ecosystem around the world, including mobile operators, manufacturers and product, service or network providers. Entries will also be accepted from those outside the industry that demonstrate the use of mobile platforms as an integral part of their eco-friendly networks, policies, programmes and initiatives.
