LAS VEGAS, Jan. 6, 2015 /PRNewswire/ - Preliminary indications show that the U.S. manufacturing purchasing managers index (PMI) fell to 53.7 in December, the lowest level in 11 months, according to the latest data released by market research firm Markit. The U.S. average annual GDP growth has been below the historical average of 3.29% since 2009.
Unlike the weak economic growth, Haier has performed strongly in the country. Haier's overall growth in the U.S. market has been improving steadily. Company sales in 2014 have increased sixteen-fold since 1999, with an average annual growth at 20.03%, nearly 6 times the U.S. average. The firm now has 8,000 sales outlets in North America, including outlets in Wal-Mart and Best Buy, retailing giants that are among the world's top ten mainstream sales channels. Haier has become one of the most appealing and recognized household appliance brands in the U.S.
At the recent 2015 CES in Las Vegas, Haier once again demonstrated its leading brand competitiveness worldwide with its trend-setting, innovative products. In the refrigeration products exhibition area, Haier exhibited two world-class products – a wine cabinet featuring magnetic refrigeration technology and a 40-bottle wine cabinet featuring solid-state refrigeration technology, a new methodology achieving compressor-free refrigeration and providing a brand new experience for users, similar to what Tesla has done in the auto industry. In the TV exhibition area, the Haier Roku TV developed by Haier in collaboration with Roku Inc. gives consumers access to more than 2,000 streaming channels, meeting the diverse viewing demands of users. In the white household appliance exhibition area, the Haier Air Cube featuring the "Custom Air" concept was one the eye catchers. Several modules that can be assembled into different combinations give users access to healthy air, something unprecedented in the household appliance industry.
According to U.S. market data, in the first half of 2014 Haier recorded a 24% year-on-year increase in sales of refrigerators, 39% in sales of roller washing machines, 58% in sales kitchen appliances and 164% in sales of dishwashers. Haier has taken the lead be achieving a double-digit (10.2%) share in the global large white household appliance market, ranking first worldwide for the 6th time in a row, according to a survey conducted by Euromonitor. Furthermore, the company's four product lines, refrigerators, washing machines, freezers and wine cabinets, all ranked first with a double-digit market share each.
