Health Robotics Expands i.v.STATION(R) Footprint in North America With Children's Hospital of Los Angeles
BOZEN, SUD-TIROL, Italy, January 10, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Health Robotics today announced its first 2011 contract for the installation of 2 i.v.STATION robots at Children's Hospital of Los Angeles, marking the third California hospital, after Cottage Health System and Memorial Care, to purchase 2 i.v.STATIONs each. The installation of the 2 i.v.STATIONs is scheduled to occur during 1Q2011 initially focusing on antibiotics and controlled substances, and in conjunction with Health Robotics' i.v.SOFT Assist Workflow Engine for Chemotherapy. Finally, this new agreement also represents the third i.v.STATION for Pediatrics sold in the United States of America, after Miller Children's Hospital in Long Beach.
"The worldwide recognition of Children's Hospital of Los Angeles' outstanding quality and experience carries a great deal of importance for Health Robotics and its continued global dominance of the IV Automation Sector. I'm particularly pleased that Children's Hospital of Los Angeles compared and verified i.v.STATION's superior R.O.I., throughput, and high-availability features after site visits to Cottage Health System for i.v.STATION, and a competitor's solution [RIVA] installed at another nearby Southern California pediatric institution. Everyone at Health Robotics is very proud of our American partners' [McKesson and HRCI] continued support, thus enabling such a great American kick-off for the company in 2011" stated Gaspar DeViedma, Health Robotics' Executive Vice President.
i.v.STATION's $275,000 price, combined with its plug-and-play installation, flexibility for bags' and syringes' brands and sizes, ISO-5 controlled environment, and unprecedented robotic throughput, has already revolutionized Non-Hazardous Sterile Compounding in North America. Multiple hospital studies have proven an i.v.STATION's 3-to-1 cost advantage over Pre-Mix/Frozen solutions by Baxter, B. Braun, and Hospira, and also consistently revealed a 6-to-1 cost advantage over outsourced custom IV manufacturing offered by Ameridose, CAPS, and PharMEDium in multiple North American local markets. Furthermore, i.v.STATION/RIVA comparison studies have shown public evidence that i.v.STATION is 4 times faster than RIVA. When factoring in RIVA's $1M+ higher price, i.v.STATION is 20 times less expensive than RIVA on a per-dose basis.
