Health Robotics' i.v.STATION Shows Evidence of Quality, Cost, and Speed at LeeSar's Sterile Compounding Center
BOZEN, SUD-TIROL, Italy, July 2, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --
Health Robotics today announced that offsite Batch Sterile Compounding Centers are quickly becoming a trend in USA's hospital pharmacies' attempt to lower the IVs price premiums they are currently incurring with companies such as Pharmedium and Ameridose for custom IV manufacturing, and Baxter, Hospira and B.Braun for Pre-Mix/Frozen solutions.
Health Robotics' i.v.STATION customer LeeSar is leading the hospital pharmacy industry by engaging Health Robotics' assistance to improve quality, reduce labor expenses, and increase Sterile Compounding throughput with less staff. LeeSar's is co-owned by Lee Memorial Health System, Sarasota Memorial Healthcare System, Leesburg Regional Medical Center, and The Villages Medical Center.
Ken Greco, Director of Pharmacy at LeeSar's Sterile Compounding Center, stated: "Since we installed and went "live" on our 1 i.v.STATION Robot, I can comfortably say that we are saving our network hospitals at least 20% of the cost of processing Sterile Compounding Batch I.V. doses (IV Bags and Syringes) manufactured by the i.v.STATION Robot. We plan to expand our relationship with Health Robotics this Fall by adding one or two more i.v.STATION Robots to our Sterile Compounding operations after we move to our brand new 40,780 sq. feet facilities this Summer."
Gaspar DeViedma, Health Robotics' Executive Vice President, stated: "We are very proud of what LeeSar's and Health Robotics have accomplished as a unified team in Florida. Customer's satisfaction with i.v.STATION has been a direct result of our March 2011 decision to directly enter the USA market after being let down by previous distributors, and building a local and competent installation and technical support organization. Many other hospital-based and non-hospital-based Sterile Compounding organizations in the USA have followed LeeSar's model, such as Scripps Health and many others that recently selected Health Robotics for its short-term ROI, redundant 2nd Generation architecture, and unprecedented speed".
Maria Gautier, Quality Assurance/Regulatory Manager at LeeSar's Sterile Compounding Center, stated: "I'm very satisfied with Health Robotics' technical service and implementation teams and with the fact that a single i.v.STATION Robot manufactures for LeeSar up to 325 daily Batch doses of IV Bags and syringes on a 12 hour shift, including the required time to manufacture powder reconstitutions from standard drug vials. LeeSar's 12 hour shift includes not only actual i.v.STATION Robot processing time but also: a) one hour for i.v.STATION Robot cleaning and UV sterilization; b) all the time required to load and unload of IV consumables into/from i.v.STATION (drug vials, syringes, tamper-evident syringe caps, and IV Bags); c) time needed for LeeSar's hospital-required specific packing; and d) pharmacist double-checking of the Batch IV doses before shipping them to our hospital network of LeeSar customers. The most common Sterile Compounding products that our network of hospitals order from LeeSar are: Amiodarone, Azithromycin, Calcium Glutonate, Clindamycin, Diltiazem, Epinephrine, Heparin, Lidocaine, Magnesium Sulfate, Oxytocin, Succinylcholine, and Vancomycin on standard Becton Dickinson Plastipak syringes ranging from 3 to 10cc, and standard Baxter Viaflex and AVIVA IV bags ranging from 50ml to 1 Liter".
