Health Robotics to Launch i.v.STATION® ONCO at ASHP Midyear; 1st American Installation at Mercy Medical Center
BOZEN, SUD-TIROL, Italy, October 7, 2011 /PRNewswire/ --
Health Robotics today announced that it plans to unveil its revolutionary 2nd generation oncology robot i.v.STATION ONCO at the American Society of Health System Pharmacists (ASHP) 46th Midyear Clinical Meeting & Exhibition, to be held at New Orleans, Louisiana on December 4-8 2011. Additionally, Health Robotics revealed that its first i.v.STATION ONCO installation in America is scheduled to take place at Mercy Medical Center [Cedar Rapids, Iowa] in 1Q2012.
"After an extensive review of I.V. Automation products in the market, we chose to acquire i.v.STATION ONCO mainly due to Health Robotics' unrivaled experience with oncology pharmacy, together with i.v.STATION's price, performance, size, features, and other plug-and-play physical attributes. We plan to install i.v.STATION and i.v.SOFT in 4Q2011 and open up our new Hall-Perrine Cancer Center in 2012 with i.v.STATION ONCO," stated Desmond Waters, Director of Pharmacy Services at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids.
Health Robotics will initially offer i.v.STATION ONCO in the USA for a monthly rental fee of $7,500 through its distribution agreement with Americorp Financial, and is in the process of securing early-adopter installation slots for 1H2012, naturally giving priority to its existing customers. At similar speed/throughput than i.v.STATION [40 standard IV bags or syringes per hour] it is expected to replicate i.v.STATION's R.O.I. of 6 months to 1 year.
"i.v.STATION ONCO represents a natural evolution/upgrade of the world-leading CytoCare and i.v.STATION robots, which together account for 100+ installations under contract. i.v.STATION ONCO combines the best oncology-specific features of CytoCare with the unique price, speed, and outstanding R.O.I. characteristics of i.v.STATION. I'm very pleased to select Mercy Medical Center as our first installation in North America, due to both their extensive experience with Pharmacy Automation and long-demonstrated commitment to quality", stated Gaspar DeViedma, Health Robotics' Executive Vice President.
Concluded Mr. Waters: "Mercy's $24.6 million investment in the Hall-Perrine Cancer Center is the foundation for providing the most advanced cancer care today and for the next quarter of a century. Mercy Medical Center is committed to fully comprehensive cancer care. Construction of the Hall-Perrine Cancer Center is well underway and Mercy looks forward to day the doors to the new center open in spring of 2012, marking the arrival of the first and only fully comprehensive cancer center in the Cedar Rapids area."
