CHICAGO, May 14, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- The Technomic Status & Outlook of the U.K. Pizza Category and Its Customers study finds that nearly half of surveyed consumers (46 per cent) would like more restaurants to offer healthier pizza ingredients. Compiling data such as this, along with insights and recommendations to identify growth opportunities in the pizza category, the Technomic Status & Outlook of the U.K. Pizza Category and Its Customers study explores pizza offerings from the top 150 limited-service and full-service chain restaurant menus and examines current and upcoming menu, marketing and concept trends.
"In co-operation with the Pizza, Pasta and Italian Food Association, this outlook study incorporates original research and powerful trend analysis from Technomic's U.K. MenuMonitor database as well as implications from multiple consumer surveys," says Sr. Managing Director of Technomic Darren Tristano.
Accessing original research findings and powerful trend analysis, the Technomic Status & Outlook of the U.K. Pizza Category and Its Customers study exposes the overall pizza landscape in the U.K. and identifies areas of growth potential, including:
- Younger consumers drive away-from-home pizza purchases: 65 per cent of consumers aged 18-34 order pizza at restaurants when eating in at least once per month;
- Pizza's appeal extends to non-pizza restaurants: 33 per cent of consumers order pizza at independent limited-service operations at least once per month, and 24 per cent do so at full-service restaurants that do not specialize in pizza or Italian cuisine.
The Technomic Status & Outlook of the U.K. Pizza Category and Its Customers study provides comprehensive research on the latest menu and consumer trends impacting the pizza segment, so that operators may understand category performance compared to the overall industry, examine consumer behaviour regarding pizza—including consumption and purchasing decisions—and analyse leading restaurant menus to show pizza incidence and leading pizza varieties and ingredients.
