High UK Unemployment Rates are Leading to People Considering Alternative Careers, Says STA

With economic uncertainty still rife and high unemployment levels affecting increasing numbers of people, many are either forced to look for alternative careers or are widening their search for jobs which they had not previously considered, says London based trading and brokerage house, Schneider Trading Associates (STA). Unemployment figures released today have reached 2.62 million, which comprises 1.02 million 16 to 24 year olds.

Many companies from a cross-section of industries are making redundancies or simply suspending recruitment drives to cut costs and the employment market is struggling as a result.  Flooded with people searching for work - some highly skilled - the marketplace is proving difficult for the unemployed to negotiate.    

STA, runs a sponsored four-week Professional Trader Programme and has seen changes in the market place first-hand, noticing alterations to the pattern of applications as potential candidates look to change careers and secure trading jobs.

STA's Professional Trader Programme (PTP), assumes no prior knowledge of the industry and gives candidates the opportunity to become a trader and experience the excitement of a trading floor.

Matt Silvester, Head of Training at STA, says: "It's no secret that the job market is suppressed at present - some sectors are more affected than others.  This is leading to people exploring different opportunities and considering alternative careers, and today's announcement that reveals the UK's unemployment figure has increased by 129,000 in the three months to September will only amplify the need for people to search for work outside their comfort zone. Historically, our trader training programme has been populated by younger candidates, mainly graduates. However, we are now seeing an increase in applications from people with more varied backgrounds and a wider age range. This just proves how people are casting wider to find the right opportunities and our Professional Trader Programme is more than just a graduate programme."

The STA course, whilst fully funded does not come with a salary, as successful candidates will be taken-on as self-employed traders with the expectation that they will start making trading profit after the first six to nine months.  Successful completion of the course does however give the opportunity to be part of STA's three year structured programme with full support and with the potential to receive limitless rewards.
