The CCC Foundation collaborated with the Ministry of Health and National Cancer Institute (NCI) in 2006 to build a much-needed "Transit Home" for the day patients of the NCI.
CCC House, a 194-bed transit home at Maharagama, today provides accommodation for patients during their treatment. Maintaining this facility as a world-class outfit requires constant funds, which are raised through donations.
CCC Foundation is also involved in a second project, the CCC Line - a free telephone counseling service, which provides emotional support and guidance for any Sri Lankan who requires such assistance. By dialing CCC Line's 1333 number, callers from anywhere in the island, through any phone service are connected to a trained telephone counselor who will provide support.
Holborn Assets's Colombo office, currently going through a massive expansion phase with plans to employ a further 100 people by years end runs a large global operations centre catering to its 15,000 clients and 100 qualified British financial advisers providing support in areas such as customer service pension administration, and digital marketing. Forty team members participated in the event
Managing Director, Shane Jayemanne who accompanied the team said, "At Holborn the culture of giving goes beyond social responsibility. We count it as a joy. This culture has been part of the Holborn DNA from its inception and represents the heart of its Founder and CEO, Robert Parker. The team here at CCC House has done exceptional work and we are glad we could be a part of it. We will treasure the time we spent with the patients at CCC House."
Holborn Assets also donated other items such as a Public Address System and Audio System requested by CCC House, with funds provided by company management.
The Holborn team was briefed about CCC Foundation's mission, followed by a tour of the CCC House. To conclude the visit the team had an amazing interactive session with the kids in their art room, colouring and drawing pictures (a Holborn team member donated colour pastels to all the kids), making paper rockets and boats, and assembling jigsaw puzzles. The kids also enjoyed taking selfies with the Holborn Assets team.
Laksiri Fernando, Manager of the CCC House said, "We are thankful to the team from Holborn Assets for this kind initiative. We at CCC House strive to maintain this facility as a safe, clean, comfortable abode for the cancer patients who need day treatment. Our efforts are supported by organisations such as yours who believe in touching the lives of people as CSR. On behalf of the CCC Foundation I extend my gratitude to you."
