Huawei Partners with Black Lotus to Provide Enhanced DDoS Protection for the Global Security Service Market
BEIJING, Dec. 10, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Huawei today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Black Lotus, a leading Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) protection service provider to provide enterprises with professional and efficient anti-DDoS products and services that address the challenges of new DDoS attack types. The partnership will focus on research and development (R&D) in cyber defense technology and marketing.
"Our Hybrid DDoS mitigation services combine Black Lotus' scalable cloud-based DDoS mitigation protection technology with Huawei's on-premise Anti-DDoS appliances to ensure that our customers are protected against multi-vector attacks of all sizes," said Frank Ip, Vice President of Marketing and Business Development, Black Lotus.
"Huawei offers advanced security products and solutions that have been deployed by mega Cloud Service Providers (CSPs) such as Tencent and Alibaba in China and the Netherlands' national Internet Service Provider (ISP) NBIP," said Liu Lizhu, Vice President, Switch & Enterprise Communications Product Line, Huawei. "With Black Lotus, Huawei will continue to build a secure cyber environment by equipping enterprises with leading anti-DDoS products to enhance threat emergency response preparedness."
As DDoS attack traffic continues to grow, there has also been an increase in application attacks and cloud-based Cybercrime-as-a-Service (CaaS) has become increasingly prevalent. To help enterprises mitigate this increase in DDoS attacks, the collaboration will combine Huawei's industry-leading anti-DDoS products and technical expertise with Black Lotus' professional anti-DDoS services. Huawei's anti-DDoS products offer the best performance across the industry and its anti-DDoS solution has a global active botnet database and an IP reputation database, which is important as botnets are the main source of DDoS attacks. Black Lotus will supplement Huawei's solution with advanced DDoS protection service capabilities.
Huawei and Black Lotus will work together on a market development plan that will initially focus on Western Europe and expand to other South Pacific and North American markets. The companies are currently working together to expand Black Lotus' Amsterdam scrubbing center capacity to help European ISPs and small and medium-sized enterprises address challenges of increasingly severe DDoS attacks. Black Lotus also plans to establish DDoS scrubbing centers in Australia and other countries across Asia Pacific. In addition, the companies will conduct research and publish a joint report on global DDoS attack trends around new DDoS attacks types as part of the MoU.
Together, Huawei and Black Lotus will help enterprises mitigate an increase in DDoS attacks through offering the world's best-in-class threat emergency response services.
