Huawei Successfully Hosts the 1st Best Experience Mobile Backhaul Summit
BALI, Indonesia, Oct. 12, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Huawei and Light Reading successfully hosted the first Best Experience Mobile Backhaul Summit in Bali, Indonesia. The Summit, themed "Leading Experience Forward," attracted many industry leaders, operators, and analysts who discussed in-depth about business transformation and challenges for mobile operators in the LTE era.
Liu Dongfang, Vice President of Huawei Southern Pacific Marketing & Solution Sales Dept, said, "Mobile networks' evolution towards LTE and LTE-A boosted mobile video services. Video service experience now determines consumer behavior, which in turn affects operator service revenues. Though the progress of mobile networks varies in different countries, building experience-based mobile bearer networks to construct differentiated competitive edges is an irresistible trend for global operators."
Patrick Donegan, Chief Analyst of Heavy Reading, unveiled the experience-centric next generation mobile bearer network. Video will represent over 70% of all traffic on the mobile Internet. To satisfy end users' demand for smooth video playback at resolutions of 2K and higher, operator networks must provide a higher speed and lower delay. The emergence of new LTE-A technologies, such as CA, CoMP, and eMBMS, greatly improve the access speed and user experience. With these technologies, mobile bearer networks are able to provide users with the optimal service experience.
P3 Communications, a leading independent consulting, testing, and engineering services company, established the relationship between user experience and operator network quality by analyzing the mainstream operators' data and voice service ratings in 2014. The findings of the research will guide operators in their transformation from technology-centric networks to experience-centric networks.
The Summit also saw global operators share their success stories. For example, LG U+ of South Korea shared its business experience in its transformation towards experience-centric video service. LG U+ launched its LTE-A-based HD video service in 2014, providing subscribers with over 20,000 HD videos at a monthly fee of only 2 to 5 USD. With this service, LG U+'s user base increased 2.8-fold and ARPU increased by 5% in just one year. LG U+ now ranks No.1 in the South Korea market. PCCW also described the successful commercial deployment of its CloudBB solution. Building low-delay networks based on technological innovations not only guarantees the optimal service experience and operator competitiveness, but also prepares operators for smooth evolution towards 4.5G and 5G. Speeches also came from Telkom, Telkomsel, and VHA, entitled "How to Win in the Customer Experience Battle", "Best Practice of LTE Experience Improvement", and "How MHB to Guarantee the Best LTE Experience", respectively, in which they discussed the innovative thinking and practice in operator transformation.
Huawei stated the key features of the experience-centric bearer network architecture: ultra-broad network pipes (Ultra-fast@Anymedia), simple architecture (Simplification), and SDN-based agile capability (Agility). These features will help mobile operators seize business opportunities and address challenges in the LTE era.
In the future, operator transformation to provide better video services and user experience will become one of the main influencers on mobile broadband industry development. Huawei will enhance its partnership with global operators to create the best experience mobile bearer network.
