Prior to joining IPSA, Hugo was co-founder of the Risk Resolution Group (R2G), an award winning emerging markets risk consultancy. The firm was awarded "Strategic Due Diligence Provider of the Year" in the Acquisition International's M&A Awards two years in a row.
Executive Vice President, Kim Marsh, comments, "In January 2012, I moved to London where we opened the IPSA office. Our intent was to establish a London presence and find the right person to grow the business. We are confident this has been accomplished with the addition of Hugo to our team. Hugo has a proven track record in the industry and having owned and operated his own firm, he knows what it takes to develop business. He will be an important part of the IPSA team."
Hugo brings over 13 years of experience running complex investigations and supporting senior corporate, finance and government clients manage major transactional and political risks in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia. His extensive experience includes anti-money laundering, FCPA, UK Bribery Act and anti-bribery compliance work, as well as fraud investigations, litigation consulting, due diligence, political risk analysis and developing strategic intelligence to help solve complex business problems.
"At R2G we were able to build a dynamic risk firm with a strong emerging markets focus and capability set. The absorption of R2G by IPSA allows us to expand on that, providing a far greater geographic reach, substantial human capital to draw upon for assignments, and a long track record of conducting high value global investigation and intelligence work for clients. I am incredibly excited about the move to IPSA and the opportunity to lead their regional business. I strongly believe that our existing clients are going to be able to enjoy a far broader level of support, while new clients are going to benefit from this substantially expanded capability set. I look forward to building on IPSA's presence in the UK and globally – in particular our market leading AML expertise, investigative due diligence capabilities, and emerging market intelligence gathering capacity – and leading the growth of the business in the region."
Prior to founding R2G, Mr. Williamson spent over 8 years working for a global risk consulting firm, initially in their London offices, and then subsequently as deputy head of their South Africa office, and finally as a Director in their Asia region, spending 4 years living and working in Hong Kong, Singapore and Indonesia. He holds a Masters in Business Administration ("MBA") from ESADE Business School, Spain.
