Hunting PLC Announces Call for 2012 Hunting Art Prize; Texas Artists Compete for $50,000 Award
HOUSTON, August 23, 2011 /PRNewswire/ --
Hunting PLC, an international oil services company, has announced the call for entries for its 32nd annual Hunting Art Prize, a competition for established, emerging, and amateur artists throughout Texas in which participants vie for a $50,000 award.
Those interested in entering must be Texas residents and at least 18 years of age by August 1, 2011. A single, two-dimensional painting or drawing no larger than 72 inches by 72 inches must be submitted to be considered for the prize. Artists can enter by filling out the electronic sign up form available at http://www.huntingartprize.com and uploading one digital image of their artwork in a JPEG format.
All entries must be received by Hunting PLC no later than midnight, Wednesday, November 30, 2011.
After submissions have been reviewed to ensure compliance with contest rules, the entries will be judged according to a two-tiered jury process. A panel of jurors will first evaluate the digital files and select individuals to move on to the second tier. Those chosen as finalists will be asked to submit the original artwork represented by their digital file for consideration.
Jurors will then select the winning piece, which will be announced at the 2012 Hunting Art Prize gala on April 28 in Houston.
The Hunting Art Prize is historically the most generous annual award in North America for painting and drawing. In 2006, the competition moved to Houston, where Hunting's North American headquarters are located, after a quarter-century in the United Kingdom.
