ICIS Heren Launches Turkish Pricing and Market Coverage to Daily Power Report
LONDON, February 28, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- ICIS Heren is pleased to announce the launch of Turkish market coverage to the European Daily Electricity Markets report.
Interest in Turkey is growing as the Turkish power grid links to Europe's UCTE power grid, with commercial cross-border capacity available to the market from the first quarter of the year. Turkey itself is one of the most vibrant power markets for investors across Europe, with demand forecast to increase by up to 7.5% annually to 2017 - higher than most of the European markets over the next decade. Privatisation and demand has attracted both domestic and international utilities to invest in the market, with up to 13.7GW forecast to be built before 2017, and market participants are keen to develop a more liquid over the counter market.
ICIS Heren is the first to offer weekly Baseload price assessments for the Turkish power market, responding to the increasing demand for pricing information. An independent and transparent assessment of forward power prices in the Turkish market is vital for market participants, potential investors, traders and analysts, both in Turkey and elsewhere in Europe.
"Turkey is set to have a huge impact on prices in South East Europe, and both Turkish and European market participants are keen to see trading liquidity grow. Independent price assessments will provide some transparency to the market and help trading to develop more quickly," said Zoe Double, editor of European Daily Electricity Markets.
