LONDON and NEW YORK, July 20, 2015 /PRNewswire/ --
ICIS Chemical Business magazine has unveiled its annual ICIS Top 100 Chemical Distributors listing ranked by 2014 sales.
The ICIS Top 100 Chemical Distributors ranking, sponsored by Shell Chemicals, is available for download at http://www.icis.com/contact/icis-top-100-chemical-distributors-2015/.
The most comprehensive listing of global chemical distributors includes not only the Top 100 companies by sales, but a total of over 200 distributors offering a wide range of products, services and capabilities across diverse geographies.
The ICIS Top 100 Chemical Distributors also ranks leaders in key geographies such as North America, Europe, Asia, Latin America and Middle East & Africa based on sales in those regions.
"Even in a sector rife with consolidation, the sheer number of companies and the breadth of their diverse capabilities are impressive," said Joseph Chang, global editor of ICIS Chemical Business.
"While the large multinationals continue to grow through M&A, it remains a very fragmented market with many local players servicing niche markets," he added.
The ICIS Top 100 Chemical Distributors has been compiled with the support of US-based National Association of Chemical Distributors (NACD) http://www.nacd.com, the European Association of Chemical Distributors (Fecc) http://www.fecc.org, Associquim (Brazilian Association of Chemical and Petrochemical Distributors) http://www.associquim.org.br, the Canadian Association of Chemical Distributors (CACD) http://www.cacd.ca, and UK-based Chemical Business Association (CBA) http://www.chemical.org.uk
In the ICIS Top 100 Chemical Distributors listing, Germany-based Brenntag maintains its #1 position with $13.3bn in sales, followed by US-based Univar with $10.4bn in revenues. Germany-based Helm is #3 with $6.4bn in sales but this figure includes chemical production. US-based Nexeo Solutions is #4 overall with sales of $4.5bn.
Currency conversions to US dollars for the ranking were based on year-end 2014 exchange rates.
