IFCO Nominated for the German Sustainability Award
PULLACH, Germany, June 26, 2018 /PRNewswire/ --
Reusable packaging solutions from IFCO ensure efficient use of resources
IFCO Systems GmbH, the leading global provider of reusable plastic containers (RPCs) for fresh foods, has been nominated for the German Sustainability Award 2019 in the category "medium-sized companies". IFCO sets high ecological standards with its RPCs, which not only improve the supply chain efficiency of companies, but also reduce their ecological footprint. The use of IFCO RPCs, which are leased according to the pooling principle instead of sold, reduces solid waste, food losses and CO2 emissions and ensures a more efficient use of resources.
Since 2008, the annual German Sustainability Award has honored creative and sustainable solutions for tomorrow's challenges. Europe's largest award for ecological and social commitment honors top achievements in sustainability in the categories of business, research, architecture and municipalities.
Pioneer in sustainability
IFCO Systems GmbH has been nominated for the German Sustainability Award in the category "medium-sized companies". IFCO is one of the pioneers in terms of sustainability and social responsibility. RPCs from IFCO generate up to 60 percent less CO2 and up to 86 percent less solid waste compared to disposable single-way packaging. RPCs also consume less energy and water and reduce product damage by up to 96 percent - which significantly reduces food waste.
"Our entire business philosophy is based on sustainability. We minimize the impact on the environment by constantly improving our products, activities and supply chains - for a cleaner future. The nomination for the German Sustainability Award is a great recognition that further motivates us to make our contribution to a more sustainable world," explains Wolfgang Orgeldinger, CEO of IFCO Systems.
