IMD Business School Welcomes Dr. Amit S. Mukherjee, New Professor Based in Singapore
SINGAPORE, October 26, 2015 /PRNewswire/ --
IMD, a top-ranked business school and worldwide expert in executive education, has named Dr. Amit S. Mukherjee as Professor of Leadership and Strategy. Mukherjee will be based in the recently opened IMD Southeast Asia Executive Learning Center in Singapore.
While Mukherjee brings a background of rich experiences in academia, consultancy, entrepreneurship and research, his ideas came to the forefront after he published The Spider's Strategy: Creating Networks to Avert Crisis, Create Change, and Really Get Ahead. The book focuses on the interconnected environments of business today.
"While today's companies are measured as individual entities, they compete as members of networks," said Mukherjee. "Networks of companies compete against other networks and no company can succeed if the links in their network are not strong. This is a relatively new concept business leaders must grasp and by joining IMD, I'm proud to be bringing this concept to the cutting edge of executive education."
Mukherjee has previously worked extensively in providing courses for executives in leading companies such as ConAgra, FedEx, GlaxoSmithKline, Johnson & Johnson, Kraft and Nielsen. As a consultant to Bloomberg, Colgate-Palmolive, Dunkin' Brands, Maytag and others, and as an executive officer at TurboChef, Mukherjee has shaped and helped implement business, functional and market entry strategies. In working with all of these companies, Mukherjee's success came from a combination of business acumen and engineering skills.
"As we increase our offering in Singapore, we are proud to be welcoming Dr. Amit Mukherjee, who is not only a visionary thinker, but also a hands-on expert in orchestrating change strategies," said IMD President Dominique Turpin. "With an ever-increasing amount of East-West partnerships, as well as the lure of growth potential in Asia for many companies, Mukherjee will be a great value for the business leaders that trust in IMD."
Mukherjee's expertise sits at the crossroads of where strategy and technology intersect with leadership and organizational structure. Depending on business needs, his work with companies has led to the design of new equipment, the implementation of enterprise software, the development of prototypes for next generation products, and the opening for new market entry.
Mukherjee holds a Doctorate in Business Administration from Harvard Business School. He also holds an MBA from Darden and a Bachelor of Engineering from the Birla Institute of Technology and Science.
Located in the heart of downtown Singapore, the IMD Southeast Asia Executive Learning Center provides state of the art facilities for executive education. IMD runs workshops and other development programs for companies in Singapore and across the entire region.
