Cryo-Save Group N.V. At the same time, October 2013 marks the 25th anniversary of the first umbilical cord blood transplant performed by Dr. Eliane Gluckman in October 1988.

Since its flagship laboratory in Niel, Belgium, opened its doors in 2009, stem cells from umbilical cord blood and cord tissue have been processed and stored in this purpose-built facility. This state-of-the-art processing and storage unit has a capacity of processing 30,000 new umbilical cord blood samples per year and is capable of storing up to 1 million stem cell samples.
