AGT Netherlands CEO Outlines a New Approach to Support First Responders
During a keynote speech at the CCR summit in Kerkrade, Pieter-Christiaan van Oranje-Nassau, CEO of AGT Netherlands, part of AGT International, one of the fastest growing public safety and security solutions organizations in the world, outlined the need for local authorities to ensure a fully integrated approach to emergency response and bring new techniques for managing first responders to our towns and cities.
"Current systems grew out of specific needs within local domains and solutions have accordingly been specific, often focused on Emergency Medical Response" said Pieter-Christiaan van Oranje-Nassau. "Even when coordinated solutions have been developed, as in places where emergency responses such as fire, medical and police are jointly provided, the integration has only been partial, with much of communication and resource management implemented in silos."
By creating a comprehensive integrated Emergency Response Center, first responders will be able to:
- Ensure maximized efficiency of resources, managing police, fire and other resources via a central platform.
- Receive and manage a comprehensive, complete situational awareness picture in real-time that is constantly updated from the network of existing and dedicated sensors and unstructured data from other sources, including sensors, the web and human operators.
- Share information across domains, ensuring that the right information is provided to the right people at the right time, even if they belong to different departments.
- Optimize existing systems by using advanced IT strategy solutions to fully unlock all available information.
- Predict and simulate situations, allowing them to stay ahead of what is happening in real time.
- Review and manage relevant people and resources available to ensure an optimal response, responding in real-time to rapidly changing situations.
Pieter-Christiaan van Oranje-Nassau concluded that "as urban centers grow, and threats develop, the coordination and information-sharing between the different emergency response specialties is crucial to the fast, efficient and effective management of incidents and the protection of citizens. This is especially true as challenges grow and resources become more strained."
