Kevin Moore Elected 2015 Master of the Guild of PR Practitioners
LONDON, October 9, 2014 /PRNewswire/ --
Kevin Moore, MCIPR, MPRCA, Cert. I.o.D., is being installed as the Master of the Guild of Public Relations Practitioners at an Installation Ceremony at Saint Bartholomew the Great, Smithfield, this evening. The PR Guild, formed in 2000, has as its objective charitable works within the PR industry and strengthening the links between the communications sector and the City of London.
This evening Moore, a founder and Millennium member of the Guild, will announce a new initiative and sponsorship by PR Newswire. Moore said: "I hope this will be the start of a long and mutually beneficial relationship; I look forward to us working together and furthering the aims of the Guild. I am also very proud and pleased to launch the 'dream team' Guild volunteer force, providing volunteering opportunities for PR professionals to work closely with the voluntary sector, in partnership with City Action and East London Business Association(ELBA) and several corporate sector partners."
The Guild provides an effective route for members of the public relations industry to put something back into the community, the profession, and the City of London. The Guild has an active programme of activities for 2015; the current projects include providing training and development workshops for third sector organisations, working with young people in London schools to develop work-based skills as well as coaching and mentoring students of PR and journalism and developing qualifications for injured servicemen and women.
Moore is currently Chair of the Hackney Society, a trustee of the Sheerness Historic Preservation Trust and is also restoring several Historic buildings in the Dockyard at Sheerness-on-Sea.
In 2013 the Guild progressed to the status of Company without Livery. During his period as Master, Moore intends to continue the Guild's progression to full Livery status and to increase the charitable disbursements and activities. The Guild is affiliated with the Territorial Army's Media Operations group (Volunteers), the Royal Naval Reserves Media Operations Specialisations and the Royal Auxiliary Air Force's 7644 Squadron.
Notes to Editor
The Guild currently has over 100 members, has built a Charitable Trust which has made donations in the past to the National Institute for Conductive Education, Kaimes Special School Association, Deafax, Hi Kent, Be Your Best Foundation, Deafblind UK and Sign Health and makes an annual contribution to the Lord Mayor's Appeal.
A mixture of formal and informal events are held during the year, with City dinners, lectures, and networking opportunities, mixed with 'at home' events, quiz nights, wine tasting and military adventures. Through mixing formal and less formal events, partnering with the professional bodies the CIPR and PRCA and ensuring that the City is presented in a positive light, the Guild endeavours, with a fair degree of success, to share the fundamental principles common to Livery Companies. Seven former Masters have been Fellows of the CIPR and two were senior practitioners in government communication.
