King.com Reaches One Billion Gameplays a Month; Joins Top 10 Largest Facebook Developers
SAN FRANCISCO and LONDON, October 26, 2011 /PRNewswire/ --
- Company Opens San Francisco and Romania Offices and Hires New U.S. Staff
Leading multi-platform social games company, King.com, today announced that it has surpassed one billion gameplays a month, while also becoming one of the top 10 largest developers on Facebook. King.com also announced that it is strengthening its footing in the U.S. and worldwide with the opening of offices in San Francisco and Romania and the appointment of former Gamelab President, Jong Woo, as King.com's senior business development director of U.S.
The benchmark milestone was reached by King.com's dedicated fans playing the nearly 200 games across its online, Facebook and mobile destinations. Over the last month, King.com's popular "Saga" games - Bubble Saga and Bubble Witch Saga - have generated over 600 million gameplays on Facebook alone. Additionally, with its 17.6 million monthly active users (AppData, Oct. 25, 2011), King.com has become one of the top 10 Facebook developers across all application categories. This places King.com among other top ranking Facebook developers, such as Zynga, Electronic Arts, Microsoft, and Yahoo!.
"We are ecstatic to have not only reached a billion monthly gameplays, but to also become a top 10 Facebook developer. It's rewarding to see our games gain so much interest and excitement among our players - across all platforms," said Riccardo Zacconi, CEO, King.com. "We are taking this recent momentum and expanding our reach through North America by adding an office in San Francisco and new employees to that region so we can more closely connect with our partners and gamers there."
The new U.S. office is located in downtown San Francisco, CA and will act as the operations center for North American business development initiatives for the company. King.com's new Romanian office will be the center of their mobile game development operations.
Jong Woo joins King.com in the new U.S. office from his position as senior business development executive at Blockdot, an interactive agency specializing in branded entertainment and "advergaming" solutions. Previously, Jong was President of Gamelab, best known for its acclaimed casual game titles 'Diner Dash' and 'Jojo's Fashion Show,' leading the company to a level of critical and commercial success. He started his career in finance with the structured finance group at Macquarie Bank and holds a MBA in marketing from NYU Stern School of Business and a bachelor's degree from Princeton University.
