Latest Advancements in Nutraceutical Market Will be Discussed at Nutraceuticals India 2012
NEW DELHI, India, August 30, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --
The Indian nutraceutical market is expected to be driven by growth in segments such as Ayurceuticals. This industry is expected to grow from INR 44 bn in FY11 to INR 56 bn in FY15, driven by dietary supplements, primarily vitamin and mineral supplements. Major segments could include body building, weight control, diabetes control, sports nutrition, meal replacement, among others. Naturally derived substances, amino acids, soy-based and protein and peptide supplements could also drive growth.
At the recently concluded Functional Food and Beverages India 2011 conference, Rashmi Upadhya from PwC shared her insights into the key opportunities and challenges around nutraceuticals. Indian consumers place a high amount of trust in traditional products which could drive the growth of Ayurceuticals - ayurvedic ingredients delivered in packaged nutraceutical forms. There is also an increasing usage of encapsulation and nanoceuticals similar to prevailing global trends. However, nutraceuticals sold as OTC products require heavy investments in product promotion and point of purchase visibility. Educating stakeholders across the value chain from physicians to retailers is challenging and pricing still remains a barrier in this price sensitive industry.
To delve into the dynamic trends in nutraceuticals and the latest evolving domestic and global regulations, Fi Conferences is organising Nutraceuticals India 2012 from 9-12 October in Delhi. The main objective of this conference is to navigate the stringent nutraceutical regulatory guidelines and implementing the latest advances in R&D techniques to drive nutraceutical product development in the country.
