Latest P3 Mobile Benchmark Shows Dramatic Improvements Through VoLTE
AACHEN, Germany and MORRISTOWN, New Jersey, June 17, 2015 /PRNewswire/ --
Results of first independent public validation of Voice over LTE services in the US indicate opportunities for mobile operators worldwide.
Published today, the first independent mobile benchmark of Voice over LTE services in the United States reveals dramatic improvements in customer experience through VoLTE. The benchmark focused on the Washington, D.C. metro area and was conducted by P3 communications, the international leader in mobile benchmarking.
The results show significant improvements in call setup time and in voice quality versus comparable voice calls on traditional circuit switched technology. Also, the call drop ratios were on an impressively good level for such a new technology. VoLTE is delivering on its promise to provide crystal clear voice quality and ultra-fast call connections.
"Our U.S. benchmark clearly shows that VoLTE is ready to replace legacy voice services and become the new default choice for voice calls across the world," says P3 communications Managing Director Hakan Ekmen. He concluded: "Many of the world's wireless networks could benefit from an upgrade to the latest VoLTE technology."
During two weeks of intensive testing in April and May 2015, P3 measured VoLTE performance from the customer's perspective, made some 7,000 voice calls and collected more than 50,000 speech samples to compare the real-world performance of legacy circuit switched networks with that of the new VoLTE networks of major carriers in Washington, D.C.
