University College Nordjylland (UCN) in Aalborg, Denmark, Lovisenberg diakonale høgskole (LDH) in Oslo, Norway and Luleå Tekniska Universitet (LTU) in Luleå, Sweden, will all migrate to Canvas from their legacy learning management systems.
Canvas is a modern LMS that sets a new standard for open technology in education. Built to meet the requirements of contemporary students, teachers and institutions, Canvas enables teachers to plan and schedule courses, while keeping students up-to-date with their own progress via personalised mobile and social notifications.
"After going through several mergers, we wanted to standardise on one modern and easy-to-use LMS for our whole institution across five locations in Denmark. We did thorough evaluations and included stakeholders from across the institution in the selection process. Ultimately, we chose Canvas based on its ease-of-use, open architecture and scalability," commented Thomas Mark, director at UCN.
"Luleå University of Technology is internationally renowned for its close collaboration with the industry and other stakeholders, and since global technological companies choose Luleå as their northern European hub, we expect to see an increased demand for our graduates and their knowledge. Our students need modern, social and easy-to-use tools at the University. Canvas has the modern software-as-a-service platform that will enable us to support our students better and deliver a world-class education," said Anders Nordin, CIO at LTU.
"At Lovisenberg, we have a 1:1 iPad programme, enabling the nurses that study at our institution to benefit from a modern social and mobile learning environment. These new requirements demand a new LMS so that our students will have the best support, guaranteeing they are ready to address the demands of the modern workplace in healthcare," stated Pål Hægland, project manager of Canvas at Instructure.
In addition to Canvas, Instructure offers online applications that help enhance the learning environment for the education market. Canvas Catalog allows institutions to host their own branded courses and present their course catalogue online. Canvas Network, the company's massive open online course (MOOC) platform, allows any institution that wants to run an open course to benefit from our popular, scalable, secure global platform for free.
"Scandinavian institutions educate the future workforce and researchers of that technologically-advanced society. Due to a lack of competition in their local LMS market, they have not benefited from modern technology, mobile and social applications and tools that allow their teachers to try out new pedagogical scenarios like flipped classrooms and blended learning," said Heather Kane, Vice President of International Markets at Instructure.
"Our open-source, software-as-a-service platform combined with the best service record in the LMS marketplace will enable these institutions to stay ahead of the curve and provide the best experience to all their teachers and learners. I applaud Lovisenberg, UCN and Luleå for being the leaders in their markets and their commitment to innovation and excellence," Kane continued.
