London Taxi TX4 Introduced in Nanjing
HANGZHOU, China, Aug. 15, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Zhejiang Geely Holding Group ("Geely Group"), the leading Chinese automobile manufacturer, is excited to announce the introduction of 500 London Taxi TX4s, manufactured by the Shanghai London Taxi Company ("SLTC"), in Nanjing, in China's Jiangsu Province. An initial 50 vehicles, purchased by the Nanjing Public Transportation (Group) Co., Ltd. Jiangnan Taxi Company, were launched on August 10, to mark the beginning of the Asian Youth Games, to be held in Nanjing in August 2013.
The TX4 is a unique taxi model. With its iconic design and five-seat passenger space, it can meet wide ranging passenger demands. The TX4 launched in Nanjing features Wi-Fi hotspots, making it easier for passengers to enjoy Internet services on their journey.
Manufactured by the renowned cab company, London Taxi Company (LTC), a subsidiary of Geely Group, the TX4 is London's iconic Black Cab. Founded in 1919 in Coventry, England, LTC has a rich heritage defined by precise technology, design and fine workmanship. The TX4 cabs in service in Nanjing, built to the same quality specifications of theTX4 cabs operating in London, are highly spacious and offer safe baby carriage and wheelchair access. TX4 taxis are built using high-strength galvanized steel, and equipped with safety features including air bags, three-point seat belts, power steering systems, and engine security chips.
At the 2012 London Olympic Games, the Spice Girls entered the Olympic Stadium in this very taxi, showcasing the UK's charm and quality design capabilities to the whole world.
In China, TX4 taxis have been recognized as the designated car for major sporting events and activities and have featured at the Beijing Olympic Games, the Shanghai Expo, the Guangzhou Asian Games and the Hangzhou National Para Games. To date, TX4 taxis have served in Beijing, Guangzhou, Hangzhou, Ningbo and Hengdian.
