Margaret joined UBM Asia in April 2009 as Managing Director of UBM China (Shanghai). She started this subsidiary from scratch and developed it into a company which will be generating US$65 million in revenue this year. She was the person who sourced and completed one of UBM Asia's most successful acquisitions in the last 15 years, namely the Shanghai International Children-Baby-Maternity Industry Expo (CBME China).
To be held from 22 - 24 July, CBME China 2015 will cover all the exhibition halls in the Shanghai New International Expo Centre and span over 100,000 sq. m of net exhibition space. CBME has become such a strong brand that it has successfully launched geo-adapts in Turkey, India and Singapore.
Other acquisitions, such as Dentech China and Medtec China, and the strong organic growth in existing events for aviation, non-woven and technology sectors have contributed to the spectacular growth of UBM China.
Recently Margaret took on the management of the eMedia Asia business which includes the China International Optoelectronic Expo (CIOE) in Shenzhen, IIC China and the print and on-line titles of EE Times Asia, EDN China and ESM China.
Jime Essink, President & CEO of UBM Asia, said: "I am very pleased to invite Margaret to join the UBM Asia Board. Margaret will bring among others valuable experience about mainland China as well as deep insight in technology to the Board."
Prior to joining UBM, Margaret held senior management positions at TNT and Global Sources with P&L responsibilities and track record in business planning, strategic investment and product development. In addition, Margaret has extensive experience in management consulting and online development. Margret is a graduate of Oxford Brooks Business School with MBA degree and certifications in Project Management, Information System Management and Web Development.
Margaret will continue to be based in Shanghai and there will be no change to her immediate responsibilities and reporting line.
