Masternaut Keeps The One Show on Track for Sport Relief Fundraising Target
LEEDS, March 22, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --
Friday, 16 March 2012, marked the start of The One Show 1000 relay and the latest example of Masternaut tracking technology in use for Sport Relief. Aiming for an unbroken relay of 1000 people, completing one mile each, the high profile event is due to last ten days and take in locations across Scotland, England, Northern Ireland and Wales. On the journey from the Isle of Mull to the Mall in London, the participants of this latest Sport Relief event will have a piece of trade secret technology driving them forward.
Based on the same technology that many of the UK's leading businesses use to measure fleet utilisation, driver behaviour and location-based services, the Masternaut Asset Tracking Unit will emit signals via GPS satellite tracking to deliver minute-by-minute updates of the location of The One Show 1000 participants.
The Masternaut Asset Tracking Unit (ATU) is the same technology that was put in place to track the UK leg of comedian John Bishop's epic triathlon progress via a real-time map on the Sport Relief campaign webpage.
Stephen Meadows, Challenges Manager at Sport Relief, said of the latest challenge: "Masternaut has provided a service that allows supporters to keep track of progress in real time during this epic relay. The system is accurate, reliable, and automated, giving us a clear picture of the participants' locations."
Masternaut is the largest pan-European provider of telematics technology to businesses, influencing driver behaviour and monitoring 6.2 million miles on an average day across their network. The solution gives customers full visibility of their assets and equipment; be it an HGV lorry or a 1000 person nationwide fundraising relay.
Masternaut's UK Country Manager, Keith Watson, is delighted to see Masternaut's expertise put to use to support a worthy cause. He commented: "The Masternaut solution is flexible enough to enable us to scale up and down, which means that we can support large-scale fundraising initiatives like this one for Sport Relief. We wish the participants every success with this challenge - we'll be right behind each individual, every step of the way."
