The report, "Internet Global Growth: Lessons for the Future," provides evidence showing the current Internet model effectively promotes Internet growth globally, and warns that restrictive regulations could impede growth. This is especially pertinent considering that in late August, 17 Arab states put forth a submission proposing a large number of revisions to the International Telecommunications Regulations (ITRs). If implemented, the proposed regulations would expand the scope of the ITRs, which would have a significant impact on the operations and development of international telecommunications and IP networks. The Arab proposal will be discussed at an Arab states preparatory meeting from September 8-13, in preparation for the World Conference on International Telecommunications (WCIT) in December in Dubai.
