LONDON, March 2, 2016 /PRNewswire/ --
Starting in 2016, cost will no longer be an issue for British patients who want to have cosmetic surgery without the fear of dubious deals. This is because eHealth MediDate GmbH has transferred its successful business model from Germany over to the UK.

Since starting up in Berlin in 2014, MediDate has worked exclusively with privately owned premium lifestyle doctors' practices and clinics. Its medical specialists are among the best in Germany. The specialists are freed of the administrative tasks preceding surgery, such as initial consultation, billing and appointment coordination, because MediDate does it all for them. On the patient side, MediDate provides advice to people who are planning a medical procedure to their eyes, body or teeth for functional or aesthetic reasons. The providers of aesthetically indicated operations vary widely from country to country in terms of price and quality. From the patient's perspective, the market is a jungle. And that's where the business model of MediDate comes in: "We want to be the first port of call for patients when they are seeking advice and treatment in what is often the sensitive area of lifestyle medicine. Because the Internet is nowadays the most popular source of advice on health issues, our business model is naturally based on Internet and online marketing," says co-founder Eiko Gerten. "But a human presence still remains essential when it comes to the majority of questions. That is why our well-trained team of medical consultants is at the heart of MediDate."
Patients only make their decision after their first consultation with a doctor from a premium hospital. Prices for treatment arranged through MediDate are on average 27 percent lower than the usual prices in such clinics. "Only with the MediDate model is the patient able to access cutting-edge medicine that would otherwise be unobtainable; and on the other hand, hospitals are able to utilise their full capacity: a win-win-situation," according to co-founder Nico Kutschenko.
In less than a year, more than 50 German premium lifestyle clinics accepted referrals from the patient referral service provided by MediDate; and MediDate arranges more than 5,000 patient consultations a month. With a business model that has enjoyed so much success in Germany, 2016 saw the launch of MediDate in Great Britain.
Managing Directors Kutschenko and Gerten see in the English market great potential for cutting-edge medicine at reasonable prices. "The British are just as open to the trend towards making Lifestyle Surgery simpler, safer and more affordable. The English market is also experiencing a high demand for skilled aesthetic intervention," confirms Gerten.
In Britain in 2013, more than 50,000 cosmetic interventions were performed and the trend is clearly upward. And liposuction takes the top spot for cosmetic interventions, accounting for more than 41 percent.[1]
More than 40 million people actively use the Internet in the UK to order goods and services.[2] 20 per cent of them are searching for solutions to eye problems on the Internet.[3] The fact that MediDate's Internet and online marketing business model is very welcome in the UK market is shown by the demand: in the first week alone, MediDate received more than 100 requests for a consultation. Top hospitals in London, Guildford and Birmingham immediately joined up with MediDate.
Patients in the United Kingdom want the same benefits such as affordable care provided by state-of-the-art facilities, the best service in England's top hospitals and treatment by top consultants. The success of MediDate in Germany is also confirmed in the UK.
