MEDITECH and Centennial-MIT Appointed for NHS Shared Business Services Framework
WESTWOOD, Massachusetts, June 11, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- MEDITECH affiliate Centennial-MIT, which has supplied the MEDITECH Electronic Patient Record (EPR) in the United Kingdom for 30 years, has been appointed as a supplier on the recently launched NHS Shared Business Services (SBS) framework. "As a long-time supplier of healthcare solutions in the UK and Ireland, we are well versed in helping healthcare organisations achieve their goals by providing patient-centered electronic health records," says Helen Waters, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at MEDITECH. "We are thrilled to be part of the new framework and look forward to the positive impact it will have on the procurement process."
The framework provides NHS Trusts with the opportunity to save significant time and resources as they procure electronic health systems—important savings as Trusts seek to meet the NHS' challenge to become paperless by 2018. As a shared business services model, the framework allows NHS Trusts and other public organisations to procure healthcare clinical information systems in a more cost-effective and efficient manner, providing an alternative to what has often been a lengthy and resource-intensive procurement process.
The MEDITECH solution is used by over 25 organisations in the United Kingdom and Ireland, including City Hospitals Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust (Sunderland), Alder Hey Children's NHS Foundation Trust (Liverpool), Liverpool Women's NHS Foundation Trust (Liverpool), Burton Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (Burton upon Trent), HCA International (London), and the Galway Clinic (Galway, Ireland)—the first hospital in Ireland to be awarded Stage 6 designation by HIMSS Europe. Additionally, MEDITECH's fully integrated Oncology Management solution is being implemented at the Clatterbridge Cancer Centre NHS Foundation Trust (Wirral).
"We are pleased to supply the MEDITECH solution as part of the SBS framework," says Charles Blackburn, CEO, Centennial-MIT. "Through our 30-year relationship with MEDITECH, we have developed a thorough understanding of the challenges facing healthcare organisations today."
MEDITECH has 2,400 customers, across 22 different countries, and is known across the UK and Ireland for offering a fully integrated solution that meets the needs of organisations spanning the entire continuum of care, including PAS/EPR, Scheduling and Referral Management, Accident and Emergency Department, Patient Care and Patient Safety (Nursing), Consultant Care Manager, Imaging and Therapeutic Services, Data Repository, Patient Portal, Document Management, Theatre Management, Pharmacy, Central Stock Control Management, Pathology (including Microbiology & Haematology), Choose & Book Integration, E-Prescribing, and interoperability with GP Systems
