Medworxx Announces First UK Customer; Welcomes Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals Trust to the Medworxx Community
TORONTO, April 21, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Medworxx Inc. ("Medworxx") (TSXV: MWX), provider of healthcare solutions for patient flow, compliance and education, is pleased to announce that they have signed their first UK customer, Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals Trust.
The Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals Trust (the Trust) will implement the Medworxx Utilisation Management System (UMS) to provide evidence based clinical admission and discharge criteria across all of their 900 bed Trust. Medworxx will be used to standardise the admit and discharge decision making for appropriateness of inpatients in Accident & Emergency and Medical Assessment Units, ICU/CCU, Medical/Surgical Wards and Rehabilitation Wards. The Medworxx UMS is currently in use at over 125 hospitals across Canada.
Medworxx UMS will enable the Trust to receive a continuum of data about patients, blocks and gaps in delivering care. Operationally, information from the tool will be used for daily decision making to improve patient flow. The decision to implement the Medworxx solution was made after the completion of a Bed Census Audit using the Medworxx UMS by Model Advice DC Consulting Ltd UK, Medworxx' UK partner. Model Advice DC is providing expert advice on establishing an overall Utilisation Management Programme and mentoring on the use of the tool.
Diane Wake, Executive Director of Nursing and Operations, and Director of Infection Prevention and Control at Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals Trust stated "This is a time of great opportunity for the Trust as we work towards moving into a new purpose built, state of the art hospital in 2016. Medworxx UMS will play a key role in enabling us to ensure our patients receive the right care, at the right time, in the right place.
This is an important opportunity for Medworxx to introduce our solutions into the United Kingdom", said Larry Vanier, Vice President of Decision Support &Patient Flow, Medworxx. "We are excited to be working alongside UK strategic partner, Model Advice DC Ltd, to advance the health services delivery at such a respected organization as The Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals Trust.
