meta recently launched a successful Kickstarter campaign, offering backers its customized hardware components and robust SDK, featuring the most advanced and affordable interface for augmented reality. SoftKinetic's iisu is optimized for high performance, providing scene analysis, hand and finger tracking, and lag-free gesture recognition. The DepthSense 325 is capable of capturing gestures as close as 15 centimeters, at 60 frames-per-second (fps). Early adopters from meta's Kickstarter campaign are given the first opportunity to develop a wide range of applications with Space Glasses and SDK, before Meta. 01 is officially launched to consumers in 2014.
"Augmented reality is a very exciting field of technology innovation and development at the moment, and the recent progresses made in 3D vision and gesture recognition provide the missing link between the real and the virtual," said Michel Tombroff, CEO of SoftKinetic. "meta has made significant strides in creating a truly immersive augmented experience with its Space Glasses, and we are excited to lend our expertise via our camera and middleware."
"We are confident that everyday augmented reality is not a question of 'if' any longer, but 'when,'" said Meron Gribetz, CEO at meta. "We want to be at the forefront as this new technological revolution gets underway, and we are excited to have aligned ourselves with SoftKinetic, who can provide the functionality and capabilities necessary to turn our vision into reality."
meta illustrates the innovative ways to use its Space Glasses here. meta and SoftKinetic will demonstrate some of these capabilities at Engadget Expand in New York City, November 8-10, 2013.
