Miriam Gonzalez to Join Dechert as Partner in London

International law firm Dechert LLP announced today that Miriam Gonzalez will soon be joining the firm as a partner in London where she will head the firm's EU Trade and EU Government Affairs practice.

Gonzalez's focus includes providing legal counsel on trade policy, trade agreements, sanctions and embargoes, export controls, antidumping, foreign investment proceedings and EU internal market regulations and infringement proceedings.

Gonzalez is a highly regarded legal and public affairs adviser on EU trade law and policy, with extensive experience in WTO and EU Internal market regulations.

Gonzalez previously served as a Senior Member of the Cabinet for EU External Relations Commissioners Chris Patten and Benita Ferrero-Waldner, where she had responsibility for trade policy as well as EU relations with the Middle East, the US and Latin America.

While working for the EU, she was also the lead EU negotiator for the WTO telecoms agreement and she led the services negotiations for EU bilateral and WTO accession agreements on e-commerce as well as on energy, postal and construction services.

Gonzalez has advised some of the leading financial and manufacturing companies on sanctions and export control matters.

She has a law degree from the University of Valladolid (Spain) and a Masters degree from the College of Europe in Bruges (Belgium).
